Snail mail treasures, work update, shopping, etc. (w/ a few photos)
1. Say Hello to a new blogger and subscribe to him - @swallowedthewhale ! He has a lot of interesting things to share. He also has a great eye for photography.
2. I FINISHED MY LIST! 296 titles have been crunched through five websites in two part-time days. I started at 2:30pm yesterday and I finished at 7:57pm today, with numerous distractions mixed in there.
3. Tomorrow I get to do some shopping in Fairlawn/Montrose with my mother. It'll be a pleasant break.
4. Lodging situation is still cruddy. The college has no rooms open for me, a friend's mother isn't calling me back to crash at her house... good thing I've learned to not expect much out of people here. Heck, I'm so used to lack of response, thanks to no one ever responding to me when I send out my CV for jobs :P Looks like I will have to give up my stubbornness (and total cheapness): go to the Mercer Hotel, which is about 20 minutes south of my college, and pay $35/night for two nights. At least I'd have my own big bed, a private bathroom, and don't need to rely on my hosts to be home to let me in.
5. I'm missing the accounting professor's Christmas party tomorrow in exchange for the Fairlawn shopping. Plus, I'm sure I'd melt down in humiliation being the only non-accountant if I had gone to that party.
6. I sold two textbooks that had been lying around my bedroom since May - about $90 will be on my way to me in about three weeks. I guess it'll pay for my motel.
7. I went to a tag sale this morning and got a Corel PaintShop Pro CD-ROM for $5.
8. I hate being single during the holidays. Oh, wait - I've never dated. This is normal for me. Never mind.
9. I'm trying to think of what to do for my seventh Xangaversary, which is on the 21st.
Photos.

^ @buddy71 always sends me the nicest cards, and usually peacock-related. It's a safe bet that any gift peacock-related is a winner in my book. Inside was a note hoping it would cheer up my day, and it certainly did.
^ @bogarantyu bought me a little present from Etsy - three bottle cap magnets with peacock images! Thank you! They're presently decorating my magnetic headboard lamp.
^ My work desk for my crafting. It's always cluttered with books and papers and crap.
^ One of the wonderfully unique and fun ornaments decorating our tree.
^ This is naturally my favourite ornament because it's handpainted and features my college's name.
^ I think this is called a European tree topper? ... anyways, I love that blue and silver.
^ Our Christmas tree. The lights we have on it are blue with flashers.

That's a very unique Christmas tree... I'm glad that stuff is finally coming together w/ your buy-back, even if it wasn't what you originally hoped for.
Ooh pretty bottle caps!
cool peacock!
I agree wholeheartedly about being single during the holidays, it's been a few years now for me and it gets so sad sitting alone looking at a Christmas tree
I'd like to see those images underneath my bottle caps
Bummer about the lodging situation. :(
Oh, I love your bottle cap magnets. Maybe I should start learning how to make them. :D And the card is beautiful and fun!
We had a similar tree topper when we still did Christmas, except it was silver and white. I think they are even better than stars. :)
Yay, you got them! I hope you like them. :D Now if I could get my hands on a 1 inch circle puncher, I have some perfect peacocks to turn into magnets and pendants. :)
We have the same type of Christmas tree top. We won't decorate till the 22nd or 23rd, but then it should stay up till Januar 6. I really like the colors of your tree topper.
Thank you for plugging my Xanga!
That's a very pretty tree, almost as if it was decorated by a professional.
@Passionflwr86 - Yeah, it's been a weird buyback. I'm also worried about possibly paying $50 for four days of Internet :P If that's the case, I'll be very angry.
@godfatherofgreenbay - I should get a mannequin and pretend that he's my boyfriend... kinda like Rose on "Two and a Half Men".
@hevcoh - Yeah I don't really like the stars, or even angels for tree-toppers. I like these - they make me think of church spires. :)
@bogarantyu - Of course I like them! :D Once I get my own fridge, they're getting centre stage :D And the only reason we set up our tree so early is because it's such a hassle to drag up the boxes from our basement and rearrange our living room, so we make it worth it by keeping the tree up for a whole month haha.
@swallowedthewhale - You're welcome! - anything to help out new Xangans. :) And I'll forward that compliment to my mother - she decorated the tree. :) All I did was untangle the lights lol.
nice pictures! love the tree :)
also, good luck with the buyback! I'm glad you were able to get those numbers done in such a short amount of time - nice job!
and have fun shopping with your mom! :)
yipee and peacock inspired card!!
you will get a box in the mail from me. you can not open it until christmas. i dont do wraping so you will just have to wait. i really do not do christmas but friends and family do so you get a box to open since you are a friend that celebrates the hoiliday.
@raspberryjade - I can be great at what I do - and I do my very best for buybacks :) It's my only incoming money so of course I'm going to be on top of things lol. And I only bought a tank top and an imported candy bar - but it saved me money lol
@buddy71 - I hope I can keep my curiosity contained and not open it until then :P And you really didn't have to mail me something for Christmas - now I feel cruddy because I only have a handmade card to be able to mail you
and if it still makes you feel lonely you could always use the mannequin when you drive so you can go in the carpool lane
@Cestovatelka - the card will be a cherished gift as i really do not celebrate the holiday.
